A large number of people gathered together and stopped up all the springs and the stream that flowed through the district.[a] They reasoned,[b] “Why should the kings of Assyria come and find plenty of water?” Hezekiah[c] energetically rebuilt[d] every broken wall. He erected towers and an outer wall[e] and fortified the terrace of the City of David.[f] He made many weapons and shields.
